Going to be out of town for the holidays from Dec 22nd to the 30th. It's been a rough past few months what with surgeries, cat dying, and such. So to make the end of the year better, I'm treating myself to a Roland VR-09 for Christmas. I've been involved with a cover/jam band for about half a year now, and since we tend to play more funk, blues, and older rock, (and plans to start performing live soon) I need a good bread & butter keyboard. Over the years, I've had a number of synths; Nord Lead 2X, Akai Miniak, Roland JD-Xi, Korg Volca Beats, etc. but not really a good generic keyboard with decent acoustic samples. So, I'm looking forward to adding the VR-09 to my rig.

I'll be using the VR-09 as my primary board, and moving the Nord Lead 2X to 2nd tier for more synth heavy duties. I've been using the Nord for organ, electric pianos, and occasional synth sounds, and it has performed well in that role. I might occasionally take the JD-Xi out since it's capable of some interesting things, but mostly it will be the Nord + VR-09.

I'm looking forward to bringing in the New Year with some added sonic landscape, and making some noise with the new keyboard.
